Woodworm Services

Woodworm is the common name for the larvae of certain wood-boring beetles that feed inside timber. They are considered a pest because their tunnelling can damage wood over time, weakening furniture, floorboards, roof timbers, and other structural or decorative timber. Signs of woodworm often include small round exit holes, fine powdery dust, and timber that may become fragile if the infestation is left untreated.

What to expect from a Woodworm Treatment

Our woodworm treatment begins with a careful inspection to identify active infestation, affected timbers and the extent of activity. A moisture meter will be used to ensure it is safe to apply treatment. If the results are within suitable range, your technician can then carry out a targeted professional treatment on accessible timber, along with providing clear advice on any further repairs, ventilation or moisture issues that may need to be addressed to help protect the property long term.

Woodworm treatment is intended to control active infestation, but it does not include structural repair work to timber that has already been damaged. Where wood has become weakened, unsafe or inaccessible, further assessment or repair by a qualified building professional may be required before or after treatment. In some situations, treatment may not be possible until the affected timber is properly exposed or any underlying moisture problems have been resolved.
